Darla Vance

Darla R. Vance is the principal of Stella Middle Charter Academy, where she is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student can thrive academically, discover their passions, and grow as a leader.

Born and raised in South Los Angeles, Darla is a graduate of California State University, Dominguez Hills and the parent of a charter school graduate. Her personal experiences have shaped her belief in the power of personalized learning, strong family partnerships, and school communities where every student feels seen, valued, and supported.

With more than 20 years in education, Darla has served as an instructional assistant, math and science teacher, assistant principal, school leader, and principal. Throughout her career, she has focused on expanding opportunities for students through meaningful community partnerships and enriching experiences that spark curiosity and creativity.

As a leader in South Los Angeles, Darla has collaborated with organizations such as Arts Matter, Best Buy Teen Tech Center, and Two Bit Circus to bring arts, technology, and STEAM programming to students. She believes all young people deserve access to experiences that celebrate their strengths and inspire them to become innovators and changemakers.

At Stella Middle Charter Academy, Darla’s vision centers on strengthening student achievement, deepening family engagement, cultivating a positive school culture, and expanding opportunities in academics, athletics, the arts, and leadership so that every student has the support they need to succeed.
