Beyond the Classroom

Athletics

Our middle schools and high schools offer a variety of sports programs for boys and girls, including soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, cross country and more.

Our high schools are members of the competitive California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) sports program, and compete against teams from across Los Angeles in a variety of sports.

Additionally, students can participate in non-CIF sanctioned sports, including cheer and Students Run Los Angeles (SRLA). Many of our students complete the LA Marathon each year.

After School Programs

Our students have the opportunity to participate in a free, daily, after school enrichment program. We partner with after-school program providers, including After-School All-Stars and arc, to provide robust opportunities for our students after school hours.

Life Experience Lessons

Through our hallmark “Life Experience Lessons,” students access horizon-broadening field trips. They explore local museums, mountains, and beaches; travel to national parks; hike, camp, and canoe; tour colleges across the country; and more.

Beyond Defense & Leadership Retreats

Bright Star Schools' innovative program, Beyond Defense, is a comprehensive, social-emotional and self-defense curriculum to empower young women to successfully navigate relationships, affirmative consent, and personal boundary setting.

Through leadership retreats for our young men, we teach lessons about boundaries, social cues, consent, and positive bystander behavior. Our young men learn empathy, character, and compassion.
