In November, the CIF along with the NFL reached out to schools about participating in an NFL-sponsored pilot girls Flag Football team. Rise Kohyang High School was selected as only one of 8 schools participating in this amazing opportunity for women in sports.

The LA Chargers and LA Rams provided the Tritons with their uniforms, game sites, and fun activities for the Super Bowl.

Yolanda Galeazzi, Dean of Athletics and Student Activities for Rise Kohyang High School, and current Head Coach of the flag football team, wrote the application to gain access to the program, along with recruiting students to join the sport.

As Yolanda said, “As a former high school football player myself, this opportunity to bring football to our very own students is close to my heart. I am honored and grateful to be able to pilot this program at our school and cannot wait to see girls all across the country playing flag football in years to come.”

RKHS principal Cynthia Trigueros and assistant principal Stephanie Kozofsky, who’s also the assistant coach of the flag football team, have supported the opportunity for our students from the beginning.

Stephanie said, “We’re proud to provide access to as many in-person opportunities as we can for our students at Rise Kohyang High School so that they thrive in and beyond the classroom, in higher education, and in their careers. Our students are growing so much and having an amazing time.”

Please join us in congratulating and celebrating the Tritons!
