Celebrating a Forever Home for our Valor Academy Elementary School Cubs

Our kohyang was overjoyed as we celebrated the ribbon cutting for Valor Academy Elementary School’s new permanent home in the San Fernando Valley! More than 300 families, community members, partners, elected leaders, and supporters joined us to celebrate this momentous occasion.

As you entered the event, guests were greeted with a timeline of Valor Academy Elementary’s history honoring its growth throughout the years. In the main courtyard, several family-friendly activities were featured, including bounce houses, face painting, and an arts and crafts section. Guests also enjoyed performances by a mariachi band and our own Valor Academy students beautifully performing Ballet Folklórico. During the main portion of the event, we heard from members of our Valor Academy Elementary School and Bright Star community, along with distinguished guests whose continued support over the years helped make this permanent home a reality. The joy was palpable as we officially cut the ribbon to honor this special milestone for our Cubs.

This campus represents nearly a decade of vision, planning, and persistence to create permanent homes for the Valor community. With its opening, all three Valor schools now have permanent campuses, giving families in the Valley the opportunity to begin their Bright Star journey in TK and continue through 12th grade within the same community. One of the most meaningful parts of the day was seeing our students, families, educators, and school leaders celebrate a place they can truly call their own.

The Valor Academy Elementary campus also includes La Casita, the oldest home in North Hills, which is now being used for community schools programming, including college classes for families, family events, and a care closet for families who need additional support.

We are grateful to everyone who helped bring this vision to life, especially our Valor Academy Elementary students, families, educators, staff, and school leaders. Their dedication is what makes a beautiful new building feel like a school community.

Thanks to this collaborative community effort, our Cubs now have a permanent place where they belong, learn, grow, and build their bright futures. Thank you to everyone for their support and for all you do for Bright Star and our scholars.
